Why we exist
Sudden cardiac arrest is one of the leading causes of death in the world, with over 12 million fatalities each year. The Live is Life Foundation works across Europe to drastically increase the survival rate from sudden cardiac arrest by raising awareness and educating and empowering people to save more lives.
Our cause
Every year, more than 250,000 Europeans die from sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) because they could not receive critical medical care in time. And time is incredibly important, since the victim’s chances of survival are the highest in the first 6 minutes. Every minute after that reduces the chance of survival by 10%...
It is therefore vital that bystanders perform immediate CPR and have access to nearby automated external defibrillators (AEDs). These AEDs can be operated by everyone and deliver a shock that restarts the heart. CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) is a skill that everyone can learn and perform.
However, most of us are simply not aware of all of this, and that is what our foundation will change. With a significant impact too: we could save over 125,000 European lives every year! That is the equivalent of the total population of cities like Bruges, Wolfsburg, Helsingborg or Stavanger.
Let us explain how…
